Terms of Service & Platform Policy

Seedling ("we," "us," or "the platform") is an online service that allows volunteer organizations to post shift opportunities and allows individual volunteers to discover and sign up for those opportunities. Seedling is a connection platform only — we are not a staffing agency, employer, or volunteer program operator.

We do not vet, endorse, or guarantee the suitability of any organization, volunteer, or shift posted on the platform. Any information provided by users is self-reported and has not been independently verified by Seedling unless explicitly stated (e.g., identity verification status).

Seedling bears no legal responsibility for any actions, injuries, losses, damages, disputes, or outcomes that arise from interactions between volunteers and organizations, whether facilitated through this platform or not.

This includes but is not limited to:

• Physical injury or illness sustained during a volunteer shift
• Loss of or damage to personal property
• Disputes between volunteers and organizations regarding scheduling, conduct, or compensation
• Harm caused by the actions of a volunteer or organization
• Failure of a volunteer to show up or perform adequately
• Misrepresentation by any user of their identity, qualifications, or intentions

The relationship formed through Seedling is between the volunteer and the organization. Seedling is not a party to that relationship.

By signing up as a volunteer, you agree that:

• You are responsible for evaluating the safety and suitability of any organization or shift before participating.
• You will conduct yourself professionally and lawfully during any volunteer activity.
• You are responsible for understanding the requirements, risks, and expectations of each shift you sign up for.
• You will provide accurate information in your profile and not misrepresent your skills, qualifications, or identity.
• You will honour your commitments or provide reasonable notice if you cannot attend a shift.
• Seedling's reliability metrics are for informational purposes — your actual behaviour is your own responsibility.

By registering an organization on Seedling, you agree that:

• You are responsible for vetting volunteers before allowing them to participate in your programs, to whatever degree your activities require. Seedling provides no background check or suitability guarantee.
• You are responsible for the safety, supervision, and wellbeing of volunteers while they are under your coordination.
• You will provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information about your organization and all shifts you post.
• You are responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, including those governing volunteers, labour, insurance, and health and safety.
• You will treat volunteers respectfully and not use the platform to exploit, deceive, or harm them.
• You understand that approval by Seedling does not constitute an endorsement of your organization, its programs, or its suitability to work with volunteers.

Seedling is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties — express or implied — regarding the accuracy of user-provided content, the fitness of any organization or volunteer for a particular purpose, the continued availability of the platform, or the outcomes of any connections made through it.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Seedling and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of or inability to use the platform, or from any interactions with other users of the platform.

You agree not to use Seedling to:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information
• Harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Engage in any unlawful activity
• Collect or misuse other users' personal information
• Circumvent any security or access controls on the platform

Seedling reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, at our sole discretion.

By using Seedling you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal information. Profile information you make visible on the platform (such as your display name, city, and featured badges) is visible to other registered users.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Seedling after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
